Thats gonna be a problem.

What you are looking at is the rear passenger side subframe rail, with a small-circle shaped rust hole. As it looks: not a game ender. Got out my “frame checker” and pounded away, the rest seems solid and strong. This hole seems to be from water accumulating.

My intuition says that later down the line, the fact that this car appears to be rusting from the inside out is going to be a serious problem. But for right now, lacking a welder I don’t have a way to repair this myself.

What’s an oppo to do?

That’s not a good sign for sure, you need a welder. A simple MIG will do the trick and just grind as much of the bad metal away as you can and weld in a piece of thick plate or even box the whole area if you’re really ambitious.

I would spray the inside of the frame with a rust preventative of some sort too just to prevent this from happening again.

The whole car is going to get shipped off for a body restoration at some point, this just needs to survive infrequent use until I can garage it.

Step one, make sure those aren’t recalled HF jack stands (don’t know if this has been covered before with you)

Step two, grind it out and maybe just paint it?  Looks like it could use a drain hole anyway

For right now I would at least see if you ca n spray some rust converter inside the frame rail.

Luckily these are too old for the recall. I am so tempted to just paint it, it really isnt hurting anything.
